Yes, Lifti offers lifts for daily commute as well as long distance travel.
Lifti ensures your safety by verifying each user's ID and driver's license with the relevant authorities. It's cashless and all payments are made securely within the app. No personal information, will be shared with other app users. If a driver and passenger are matched, they will see each other's name and surname, as well as each other's lift preferences. Nothing more. Our systems are secure. The safety of our users' information is of paramount importance to us. For purposes of a passenger easily identifying their driver, we share vehicle details such as make, registration number and color once a match has been confirmed. No other details will be shared.
Lifti assures its users that there will be no unauthorised charges on their cards. All payment processes are 3D-secured. Lifti does not keep any card details on record as stipulated by Financial Control Legislation.
"Lifti calculates the appropriate fee which is governed by South African Lift Club Legislation to ensure that our drivers are: 1. Not taxed on that income 2. Exempt from the requirement of a special driving permit. You are also eligible for R25 000 passenger liability insurance with RAF in case of injury or death." The base fee is R10, 0-25km = R2 per km, 26-35km = R1.50 per km, 36-45km = R1 per km, 45km and upwards - R 0,75c per km
Drivers and passengers aren't required to pay any fee for downloading the app and signing up as a driver or passenger. When inserting your bank details, there is an amount of R1 which goes off to activate the linking of your account to the app. This amount is later reversed.
We as Lifti have no passenger liability requirements for the driver. We advise all drivers to check with their insurance providers. RAF covers up to 25k should there be an accident.
Lifti currently operates nationally.
All drivers need to be in possession of a valid driver's license, which they need to upload a photo of as they complete their full profiles on the app. There are no other requirements for drivers.
Driver payments are processed on a 7 day cycle
All payments are made via our in app payment platform, so no cash payment exists. This is done for the safety of all users, for a convenient and seamless experience and to ensure that drivers are guaranteed timeous payment.
This feature allows you to contact your matched driver/ passenger and arrange details such as pick up points, etc to make the pick up easier.
To find passengers, drivers need to create a trip on the app. The process is explained in more detail on the website
Once a driver completes their profile and have been verified by Lifti, they may immediately begin offering rides.
